Lynn Davis, Principal
I am the principal of Holz Elementary. I was a teacher for ten years, a reading specialist for 3 years and a Curriculum and Instruction Coordinator for two. I have three adult children and four grandchildren. I love reading and cats! The best part about being a principal is getting to know each of my students' and their families. I am blessed to have this wonderful and rewarding job!

Rebecca Thomas, Counselor
Hello my name is Rebecca Thomas and I have the privilege of being the school counselor at Holz Elementary! I live here in Charleston with my husband, our two children, and our 3 pups. I received my undergraduate degree and masters degree from Marshall University, Go Herd! My daughter will actually be a daughter of Marshall this fall. This will be my 8th year with KCS and 6th as a school counselor. I am excited to be a member of the team here at Holz.

Paige Moffitt, School Nurse
Hello, my name is Paige Moffitt, or nurse Paige to most at Holz. I was born and raised in Charleston where I graduated from GWHS. I received my undergraduate in nursing from WVU and my masters in family nurse practitioner from Marshall. I had worked critical care for 13 years prior to transitioning to the school setting. This will be my 4th year as a school nurse. I am married to my husband Brian and we have four beautiful children: Taylor and Teagan (twins at Holz), Tinsley, and Grant. I love going to the beach and spending time with my kids and family. I look forward to a wonderful, happy, healthy, and safe school year!

Sarah Ewing, Pre K/ Special Needs
Hi!! My name is Sarah Ewing (Ms. Sarah) and I teach Pre K. I was born and raised in Charleston. I graduated from GWHS. I then moved on to WVU where I received my Early Childhood Education Bachelors Degree and my Masters in Preschool Special Needs/Autism. My husbands name is Dave and I have 2 children, Parker (he is in 2nd at Holz) and my daughter, Hallie is in PreK! I love spending time with my family, niece and nephews, traveling and Iced coffee! I love the ages 3-5 and the extreme growth you see in these years, which is why I chose Preschool. I have been teaching at Holz for 12 years! I am looking forward to a fun year!

Trish Summerfield-Johnson, Pre K
Hello! I am Trish Summerfield-Johnson (Mrs. Trish), I have been teaching Pre-K at Holz for seven years. I have a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Marshall University. I received my Master’s in Early Childhood/Special Education from GCU. I live in Charleston with my husband and our blind puppy, Fletcher. Oh, and I have two adult children, Alexander and Olivia. I love to travel, especially to the beach and to see my children. It’s amazing to watch these preschoolers grow through the year.

Angie Chenoweth, Pre K Aide
I’ve lived in Charleston for 31 years. I attended Glenville State College after high school. I’ve been married to Jamie for 30 years and we have a son Robbie who attended Holz and he’s 26 now and also lives in Charleston. I was a parent volunteer at Holz and loved the staff and students here. I started substituting as a teacher assistant at Holz 20 years ago and have loved being part of the Holz family. My favorite thing to do is travel. I get to travel with my husband in the summer and my favorite destination is San Diego, CA. I look forward to meeting and working with a new group of Kindergartners this year.

Hello, my name is Kelly Thomas, and I am a Kindergarten Aide. I was born and raised in North Carolina and have lived in West Virginia for the past six years. My name is Victoria Lilly. I grew up in Charleston, West Virginia basically my whole life. I am the youngest of four siblings. I have a dog named Max that likes to keep me company while at home. In my spare time I enjoy going to the beach with my family.

Lori Healy, 1st Grade
My name is Lori Healy and I'm so excited to be joining the first grade team at Holz Elementary. This will be my fourth year consecutively teaching first grade and my 14th year of teaching overall. I am a 2007 graduate from Riverside High School and a 2011 graduate from Marshall University. In 2021 my family relocated from the northern panhandle back to the Charleston area. My husband Shane is a social studies teacher and football coach at Capital High School. I also have two children, Harper who is 7 & Lincoln who is 4. I love spending my free time with my family. I have taught all grade levels, but first grade has been my absolute favorite. My main goal as an educator is to help every student build a lifelong love for learning.

My name is Mrs. Jones (formerly Miss. Turner) and I teach first grade! This will be my third year teaching first grade and my fourth year teaching overall. I graduated with my Masters in the Teacher Leadership Program at Alderson Broaddus in 2021. Prior to that I completed my Bachelors degree at the University of Charleston with dual degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education. After graduating from George Washington High School, I spent 10 years in early childhood development. I've been with Kanawha County Schools for 3 years now, starting as an aide, then as a Kindergarten Aide, and currently, I'm in my 2nd year as a First Grade Aide. I'm married and have three wonderful children, who also attend Holz Elementary—although it sometimes feels like I have four kids, since my husband often includes himself in the count!

Sarah Wriston, 2nd Grade
My name is Sarah Wriston. I graduated from Marshall University with a degree in Elementary and Special Education. My teaching career started in 2015 at St. Agnes Elementary. I was there for two years. I have taught at Holz since 2017. My favorite subject to teach is Science. I am married and have a son named Miles. I always say, "Miles is full of smiles!" I have a cat named Marci the Kitty Queen. I love owls, Harry Potter, and Marvel Superhero movies. I am now beginning grad school to receive my Masters in Literacy Education.

Hello! I am Mrs. Farley. This will be my fifth year of teaching, and my third year teaching second grade and being at Holz. I have also taught fifth grade and kindergarten. I graduated from WVSU in the fall of 2020 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I completed my student teaching here at Holz and knew I had to come back to teach here! I am beginning grad school at WVU this fall to receive my Masters in Literacy Education with a Reading Specialist Certification. My favorite subject to teach is math but maybe that will change soon! When I am not teaching, I am spending time with my husband and babies (Tate & Beau), hanging out with friends and family, shopping, and doing photography! I cannot wait to have a great year!

Ella Blackwell, 2nd Grade Aide
My name is Ella Blackwell. I was born and raised here in Charleston, I actually went to Holz elementary when I was a kid! I graduated from GWHS in 2020, and then graduated from WVU with a bachelors degree in 2023. Since then I have been a kindergarten aide. When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my puppy Millie and my boyfriend Tristan. We love being outside, whether it’s kayaking, fishing, riding, or hiking. I grew up dancing and went on to teach kids dance all through high school and college. I knew I was meant to be working with kids and helping their minds and hearts grow! I couldn’t be more excited to be at Holz this year and meet so many new friends!

My name is Christi Mullins. I started teaching in 1996. I taught two years in Richmond, VA. We then moved to Charleston. I taught 5 years at Piedmont Elementary, and then 1 year as Demonstration Teacher for KCS. I then stayed home for 13 years to raise my sons. I came back to Holz in 2016 in 5th grade for the last six weeks of school. This is my 8th year teaching third grade at Holz, and will be my sixteenth year teaching overall. I have been married for 25 years, and we have two sons. I love doing Yoga, spending time at our river house, my two cats and teaching third grade!

Sydney Bonnett, 3rd Grade
I’m Sydney Bonnett! I graduated from WVSU with a Bachelors in elementary education in 2017, and earned my Masters in literacy education from WVU in 2022. This will be my 8th year teaching. I started in 1st grade in Kanawha County, then left to teach Pre K in Haiti for one year. After moving back, I taught 1st grade for three more years, and finally this will be my third year teaching 3rd grade! I grew up in Nitro, and currently live in Cross Lanes with my husband, our two dogs (Bo & Dolly), and two cats (Frederick & Avocado). When I’m not teaching I love walking my dogs, going to spin class, cooking, watching our favorite shows with my husband, and spending time with my mom and sister!

I am beyond thrilled to join the Holz family as a fourth-grade teacher. I was placed as a student teacher at Holz, and I quickly discovered this is a dream school because of its bright and hardworking students, involved families, and devoted teachers. I have a Bachelor of Arts in English and French from my native country, Romania, and a Bachelor of Science in Education from WVSU. I can speak three languages: Romanian, English, and French, and I have a high interest in other cultures. The best part about teaching is inspiring students to love learning. In my free time, I love to read, spend time with my family, visit new places, and learn about other cultures.

Jennifer Weaver, 4th Grade
Hi, my name is Jennifer Weaver. My students call me Mrs. Weaver. My husband, Bob, and I have 4 grown children, Robby, Drew, Molly and Katie. This November, Drew and his wife, Jordan, will make me a grandmother (Gigi) for the first time! We also have two dogs that we rescued five years ago named Manny and Maverick. They are brothers from the same litter and greatly resemble black labs. This will be my 12th year teaching 4th grade at Holz Elementary. I enjoy all subjects, but my favorite subjects are math, writing, and reading! I get excited when my students solve math problems in a unique way and share them with the class. I also get excited when my students share their writing and stories with us. My class is a community where we nurture and protect, and we prioritize kindness and helpfulness. In my spare time, I love to be outside, especially at our cabin on the Greenbrier River. We hike, kayak, canoe, and fish. Honestly though, the only fish I have ever caught was one that jumped into my canoe while I was paddling and bounced off my arm and flopped around in the canoe. I’m happy to say that the fish got away.

Maria Sheldon, 5th Grade
Hello, students and parents, my name is Maria Sheldon. My students call me Mrs. Sheldon! My husband's name is Luke, and we have a beautiful Australian Shepherd named Bohdi. He's almost 3 years old. This will be my 6th year teaching at Holz and 9 years altogether. I started my teaching career in Wirt County as a 4th grade teacher. I graduated from WVU-P with my Bachelors in Elementary Education in 2016. I am originally from Ohio, but I have lived in West Virginia since I was 9 years old. Math and science are my favorite subjects to teach and learn. In my spare time, I love to be outdoors, whether it's spending time hiking or just traveling around to different places. Some of my other favorite hobbies are playing any sort of board game or card game, reading, riding my bike, and drawing/painting. Also, Harry Potter is my absolute favorite book/movie series of all time! I am very excited to learn and grow and to meet my new students.

I graduated from Concord University and just recently moved to Charleston with my husband Greg, daughter Ava, and cat Patrice. While I am looking forward to exploring all that Kanawha County has to offer, I am always happy when I am trying new foods, traveling with family, practicing yoga, and hiking the hills of our beautiful mountain state. Alisa Stapler, Gifted
Hello, my name is Alisa Stapler and I’m thrilled to be the new gifted classroom teacher at Holtz! I live in Charleston and am married to Rod. I have two grown children, three dogs, two horses, and a Robo mini hamster named Einstein. I have been a classroom teacher for eight years, a reading specialist for two, and this will be my second year as a gifted classroom teacher. I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and going to the stable to be with my horses. I think I have as much fun teaching STEAM as my students do while participating in the activities. I view myself as a perpetual learner and love investigating, creating and facilitating unique and challenging learning opportunities for my students.

Katrina Crump, Speech Therapist
I am Katrina Crump, the speech therapist at Holz. I grew up in Glen Dale, WV and moved to Charleston in 1993. I began the Speech Pathology and Audiology program at West Liberty State College and in conjunction with WVU, received my Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology from WVU. I also received my Master of Science degree in Speech Pathology from WVU. I am nationally certified and hold my Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Pathology with ASHA. I am beginning my 32nd year as a speech therapist for the WVDE. I have three grown children and became a Nana in July. We also rescued and adopted a kitten from our car engine this summer.

Courtney Bartlett, Librarian & Math Enrichment
Hello! I am Courtney Bartlett and I have the privilege of being your school librarian and math teacher! I have the absolute best job in the sense that I get to see every child in the building! I also get the opportunity to watch them learn and grow throughout the years which is a true blessing. My husband, mom, and mother-in-law are all teachers as well! I have two children that are my world and most of my free time is spent hanging out with my little family. I also love to read, be outside, camp, watch Disney movies, and craft.
